The Dissemination of Early Cape History by Helena Liebenberg

We’re pleased to welcome Helena Liebenberg for our August talk, where she’ll speak on “The Dissemination of Early Cape History.” The presentation explores key projects undertaken by the Tracing History Trust since 2001, with special focus on genealogy and archival materials related to Swellendam and the Overberg. Helena will also incorporate the genealogies of six old Swellendam families we’ve shared with her.

Helena is a linguist, academic, translator, editor, author, and trustee of the Tracing History Trust. She was involved in major VOC transcription projects (TANAP and TEPC), and continues to work on digitisation projects, including the VOC Daghregister Project. She’s also known for her work in Afrikaans linguistics, children’s books, and spiritual poetry.
