Meet in the morning at the Drostdy Restaurant carpark, share cars, and depart 10h00 on the R62
Drive North to Oudtshoorn then De Rust and have a light picnic lunch (bring your own) in the beautiful Meiringspoort at the main rest area. We should be there by 13h00. Leave Meiringspoort at 14h00 and head for Prince Albert.
Baviaanskloof Cape Dutch Opstal - a possible stop for "Padkos"
Arrive in Prince Albert 15h30 to 16h30 and settle in
Dinner. The restaurant is still to be confirmed. (somewhere with nice wine)
Saturday 7 October
Early farmers market for breakfast,
Visit the Fransie Pienaar museum
After which we will see local craft demonstration, blacksmith, weavers & crafters
(Like Swellendam the above are only open in the mornings )
Afternoon walk one of the irrigation furrows (which still operates in the town, unlike ours) and see it in operation, including an old water mill. Judy McGuire will be our guide.
Dinner and perhaps a ghost walk if we feel so inclined.
Sunday 8 October
Visit some of the historic houses of the town to include the dairy in the "opgekleided " building and Vergelegen a magnificent Cape Dutch House which holds Lydia Barrella's mineralogical collection which is one of the best private collections in SA .
We will then begin the journey home via the Swartberg Pass to Calitzdorp and home.

There are several B&B’s in the town. Your committee has booked into Karoo-Rust. We suggest you look at the following sites to find accommodation that suits your requirements. We suggest trying to find accommodation in town to save on having to drive each time we get together.

Costing.
All costs for accommodation, meals etc are for you own account. We also require an
“admin” fee of R30 per person for a gift for our tour guide.
If you are a passenger in someone’s car, please offer to share fuel costs
